Confused, Oliver digs out the ring instructions to read them. But before she can look them over, she feels a sudden jolt of pain in her abdomen. She lets out a moan. Liquid splatters onto the floor of the changing room. She’s in labor! Oliver groans as she realizes something.
Of course she’s in labor. The nursing bra didn’t belong to anyone, but it was meant for a breastfeeding woman. And in order to breastfeed, Oliver needed a baby. So she was turned into a pregnant woman due to give birth at any moment. Another contraction hits Oliver just as she realizes that the ring didn’t turn her back because she was about to give birth.
Luckily, her pants still fit, though they are unbuttoned and only go up to just below her baby bump. Oliver puts the nursing bra back on as well as her T-shirt, tucks the ring into a pocket, and waddles out of the changing room. She lets out a cry of pain at another contraction. All heads turn in her direction.
“Excuse me, ma’am, but-” an employee asks. Oliver has yet another contraction. She groans. A nearby customer rushes over.
“You seem to be in labor,” the customer, a tall, handsome man, says. Oliver nods. “I’m an EMT. Do you mind if I check?” Oliver’s about to turn the man down, but she has another contraction. She nods.
“Go ahead,” she squeaks, pulling down her pants. The EMT feels under Oliver. His eyes widen.
“I can feel the head already. You won’t be able to get anywhere in time. You’ll need to deliver now.” Dumbfounded, Oliver does as the EMT instructs her, completely removing her bottoms and laying on her back. The EMT gives the employees and other customers some other orders. He looks back at Oliver. “Mind telling me your name?”
“Oli…via,” Oliver says, quickly changing her name to be more feminine. The EMT smiles at her.
“Olivia is a lovely name. Olivia, I need you to push for me, okay?” Olivia nods. “Push!” Olivia does as she’s told. In a few short moments, her newborn child is in the EMT’s arms. “It’s a girl!” the EMT calls out. The store erupts in cheers. The EMT hands Olivia her daughter. “Here.”
“Thank you,” Olivia says gratefully. She looks down at her daughter. She didn’t want any of what had just happened, but she still feels herself bonding with her baby on sight. She removes her shirt and nursing bra and allows her daughter to suckle.
“What do you plan on naming her?” the EMT asks.
“What’s your name?” Olivia asks.
“Aaron.”
“Then I’ll name her Erin,” Olivia says simply. The EMT smiles at her. Olivia’s heart flutters.
The next few hours pass by in a blur. Olivia and Erin are taken to the hospital, where Olivia discovers that the ring altered reality for her. All of her identification now belongs to Olivia Simpson, not Oliver Simpson. She’s not sure how her past has changed, however, including who the father of her child is.
Aaron, the EMT, checks in on her multiple times at the hospital, and they strike up wonderful conversations each time. Olivia struggles with her growing attraction to him. He’s perfect and gorgeous, but she’s supposed to be a straight man.
Finally, visiting hours are over. Olivia is left alone in the hospital room; Erin was taken to the nursery. She decides to check on the ring and make a decision as to what to do. She gets out of bed and waddles over to her clothes, piled in a chair nearby. She takes out the ring and looks it over thoughtfully.
