As the changing process began to start up, Jeff decided to spend his last few minutes as a human thinking about what his new life would be like. Being a pet had only ever been a fantasy in his mind, a world where instead of having to do hard work and make important decisions, he would get to spend every day just sleeping, eating, relieving himself, and playing with his master. Speaking of which...
His dog Fifi ran into the room and jumped up on the bed before plopping herself down into a ball. Jeff had no doubt in his mind that she would be a good owner. After all, he'd always taken good care of her and expected the same in return.
Just then, the thoughts ceased. Jeff's clothes faded away, leaving him completely naked. He fell down as his legs suddenly gave way, and when he tried to get up, he found that his spine would no longer allow him to walk on two legs. His body began to stretch and warp as it adjusted the shape of his legs and arms so that he could walk comfortably. His hands shriveled into tiny little paws with trimmed claws and soft pads on the underside. Jeff made barking sounds as little hairs covered him in a thin, almost invisible coat of fur.
His tailbone pushed its way out above his rear end, giving him a tail to wag. His face jutted out into a muzzle, with a flat nose on the end and fanged teeth filling his mouth. His ears flattened and moved to the top of his head, with a small bit of his brown hair nestled between. The final touch was to shrink his body until he matched the exact weight and size of an adult German Shepherd.
Jeff continued to bark as he wagged his tail and bobbed his head around. His mind was much reduced in intellectual capacity, but he still knew he was a dog and could make small, but ultimately meaningless, observation on what was happening around him without being able to comprehend what they meant or how they came in existence.
But what about Fifi? He was ready to meet his new owner.
