Laura doesn’t want to downgrade herself to diapers, which she would need if she posed a toddler, so she opts for the lighter option: training pants. She finds a pair of princess-patterned training pants, but struggles to locate an outfit meant for a preschooler that looks suitably different from a kindergartener’s outfit. Eventually, she spots a puffy, sparkly dress, clearly meant to be a costume for a fairy, princess, or fairy princess. It’s perfect.
Laura takes the dress, grabs a matching wand, tiara, and sparkly shoes, and brings the outfit and training pants to a changing room, where she puts them on. She twirls, admiring her reflection in the mirror. No one would mistake her for a toddler, but she also looks younger than she did a few moments ago.
Satisfied with her disguise, Laura leaves the store and crosses the street to a nearby park. She sits on a bench and looks around, trying to decide what to do. She could go back to her brother’s house now, or she could wait for things to die down a bit before she heads out. Her stomach rumbles, reminding her that she never ate breakfast. She could also go find something to eat.
