Laura doesn’t want to downgrade herself to diapers, which she would need if she posed a toddler, so she opts for the lighter option: training pants. However, her disguise won’t be as good if she dresses like a girl, so she decides to dress as a preschool-aged boy.
She locates some Superman training pants, which gives her an idea. Preschoolers don’t often dress much younger than kindergarteners, so it might be difficult to pose as younger than she is. Unless she dresses up in some sort of costume.
Laura searches the store and stumbles across a full Superman costume, complete with a cape attached with Velcro. She grabs the costume and training pants, then goes to the dressing room to change. Once she pulls on the training pants and costume, she admires her reflection. She looks just like a boy, one too old to be a toddler, but too young to be in kindergarten.
Satisfied, Laura leaves the store. She spots a park across the street, crosses over, and locates a bench to sit on. She expected she would be annoyed by the cape, but she actually enjoys it. In particular, when she ran across the street, she liked how it flowed behind her.
Sitting on the bench, Laura tries to make her next move. She could head back to her brother’s house now. It might be wise to wait until things die down a bit, though. Or she could get something to eat, she realizes, as her stomach grumbles, reminding her that she didn’t have breakfast.
