Constance Ramirez looked out her darkened window at the mad house three floors down from her and her girlfriend’s apartment. The power had gone out hours ago and the streets where a mess, smoke filled the air as nearby buildings burning and the sound of sirens and gunfire filled the air. They weren’t alone, the sounds of screaming and the sound of multiple animals filled the air. Well they looked like animals.
It was hard to say what they really where, maybe monster was a better term or possibly hybrids. They looked like half human half animal hybrids at least some did. Some looked more animal like but much larger, she had seen a wolf like creature which had to be about the size of a brown bear run past her building.
She had no idea where they had come from then before her eyes a female snake like creature which looked like a scaled covered woman with a snake tail rape a man in front of her building. Within minutes that man had become a similar creature and together they had slithered off.
“God have mercy on us all.” Said Constance as she poked out the window and looked down. The streets where mostly empty and none of the creatures she did see where close to her building or looking her way.
“Where are you Barbara…” prayed Constance as she wondered where her girlfriend of almost 5 years was. She had gone off to the university like normal this morning, she was in her last year of Graduate School, Constance would have been with her however her professor had canceled her morning classes and by the time she had to leave to go to the university there was gunfire in the streets.
The sound of the a key entering the front door and the bolt followed by the door opening caused Constance to jump a bit. She grabbed a baseball bat from where it had been resting against the wall and headed toward the hallway. It was in pitch darkness with her end bathed in light coming from the window.
“Barbara?” inquired Constance with fear in her voice.
“It’s me.” Said Barbara but her voice sounded different. “They got me Constance….”
“No…” cried Constance
“Yes…and I have come for you.” Said Barbara as she came walking into the light, Constance’s eyes widened as she saw what had become of her girlfriend, the love of her life.
