As you make your way through the fairgrounds, the sounds of life become once again apparent, dispelling the almost eerie tranquility of the park, feeling your anxiety just fade away into nothingness. The sounds of life fill the air, vibrant, loud, and chaotic. People mill about, making their way between the various attractions, mostly children accompanied by their parents, but you can also make out a few other teens and young adults hanging around, though many of them seem to have formed into their own little cliques. You almost regret that you didn't bring somebody yourself, but... Hey, you just found out about the place, and you can always come back if they are still around. But you may as well enjoy yourself while you're here. And it's a perfect day for it, too. Bright and warm, though with a slight hint of a crisp, cooling breeze. All in all, it seems like the setup for a wonderful day.
You give most of the attractions a cursory inspection as you explore, seeing most of your usual carnival staples. There is, of course, the mandatory carousel, a brightly-colored and neon-lit ferris wheel, and even a small, prefabricated coaster. Beyond that, of course, you also come across some of the other familiar attraction. The midway, which seems rather crowded, the tinny melody of cheerful calliope music drifting over it, intermixing with the chatter of patrons, and the occasional pealing of bells or the shouts from a barker, cajoling bystanders to take part. There's even a few animal cages and large tents. All pretty standard fair.... fare. You aren't really sure where to start!
Eventually, however, one building in particular catches your attention. A marble rotunda with a deep blue domed roof located not too far from the outskirts of some of the sideshows, though it doesn't seem to be getting much attention. Kinda odd, it seems rather intricate for this kind of place. No windows that you can see, just a steel door. You shudder a little at the thought of lugging this thing around the country. Maybe it's a permanent structure? Part of the grounds that they make use of whenever in town. That makes a bit more sense. You approach the entrance, and you see a sign mounted above to it. And least this might offer a bit of explanation.
" The Gallery of Glass" it proclaims in large bold letters. How helpful. Still, it does give you an idea. Is this one of those mirror houses? You saw one on the sign. Still, you thought the sign indicated that was in another direction... And it's only about the size of a very large gazebo. You'd have a very hard time setting up a maze in there. Still, you are definitely intrigued. With a shrug you pull open the door, making your way inside.
The first thing you notice is that it's dark. As in, there is no lighting. As the door behind you slowly shuts behind you are left in what seems to be an unfurnished chamber, though you can't be sure of that as it's a bit hard to make out your surroundings currently. Great. Maybe it's unfinished? Now you feel really silly. Now you'll have to find your way back out by groping along the walls. That is until you notice a bit of light starting to trickle in, looking upwards to notice that a few windows encircling the ceiling are beginning to slide open, casting light on your surroundings. You have to shield your eyes for a moment as you get hit by a glare. Ok, so your first guess was correct, this is a mirror house. As you begin to adjust you start to look around, noticing that the entire surface of the walls is covered in mirrors, almost seamless except for where you can make out the door, letting the occupant see themselves from all angles. Or rather, that's what you would think, were it not for the rather bizarre reflection that you are currently faced with. You don't really know what to make of this at first. Or even how to react. It's...
