Constance and Barbara headed out into the smoking city, the sound of screams and calls for help filled the air. As they moved down the darkened streets, they saw many a things, a group of turned humans now mindless bear like animals ripping apart a pet store eating everything they could. There were some “intelligent” animals, but they eyed the two of them with care. Animal instincts where kicking in for everyone and part of those instincts where to avoid fights whenever possible most of all between two predator animals. It was too risky someone could get hurt and there was no hospitals anymore.
That rule didn’t apply to everyone, the two-lioness passed by a group of snake people eating the remains of someone who seamed to be almost half sheep.
“Be glad we didn’t become prey.” Stated Barbara as they darted across the road as an army helicopter flew overhead. However within seconds of them passing over the helicopter exploded in a giant fireball which filled the street with light as the burning wreck fell to roof of a nearby building. Luckily it crashed beside a water tower which in turn busted putting out the fires.
“What did that.” Inquired Constance as the ground shook as they reached the end of the alleyway and reached the street.
“That.” Answered Barbara as down the street came eight giants, they had to be at least 20 foot tall and where built like walking tanks which they were.
“Ok…now I have seen it all.” Stated Constance as the herd moved past them, the best way to describe them where centaurs but instead of the bottom half being horses, they where elephants. Their faces had transformed to be more elephant like with a long trunk and the ears with tusks as well. One of these beasts stopped and glared at the two lionesses with a ripped-out tree in its trunk as the herd moved past. There where other small prey animals’ hybrid in the herd, using the protection of the giants to keep them safe.
“Don’t try anything.” Said the bull elephant centaur
“Will not try anything.” Reassured Barbara as she showed her hands to the creature who eyed her as the herd pass and moved down the road toward the multiple bridges which lead out of the city.
“We really need a pride.” stated Constance as Barbara and her moved down the streets until they finally reached the building where Lindsay and Aaron lived. It was not on fire but there were some animals in the street, they where mostly prey animals or low-level predators. They went running when they saw the two lionesses. The front doors where locked and blocked however the two of them knew a secret, Lindsay was a smoker and she had a deal with the property manager she slipped him an extra $100 a month and he left the door to the roof so she could smoke without having to stand out on the street. They moved to the nearby building which had not been so lucky there the barriers had fallen and was now owned by the animals.
The two lioness moved up to the roof, they could see some movement within the target building but the roof was empty but the streets where no longer empty a large group of wolf like animals where moving in to attack the building which still had humans in it.
“We don’t have much time.” stated Barbara as they jumped from the building, they where in to the roof of their target building. Constance moved to the door and sniffed the bottom gap, there where plenty of smells but none of them fresh, with care she opened the door to show the darken stairwell which led into the building.
“Let’s go surprise our friends.” Purred Constance as they moved into the building.
Aaron and Lindsay lived on the top floor and they knew which door was theirs.
“I can’t believe this.” Said Lindsay’s voice from the other side of the door
“We have the stairway blocked and we can escape on the roof if we have to.” stated Aaron’s voice from within as Constance slowly turned the door checking the door to see if it was locked. It was not and with care they opened the door and entered the darkened apartment. With padded feet, neither Lindsay nor Aaron heard them. “Whatever these are they don’t seam smart.”
Constance and Barbara went on all four as they entered the living room to find Aaron and Lindsay standing by the window looking out over the streets.
“We are safe in here; they are out there and we are in here.” Reassured Aaron “All we have to do is…”
“But we are here Aaron.” announced Constance as Lindsay and Aaron turned to look into their darkened living room to see their two turned friends moving on all fours to either side of them. With a small thud they both got onto their feet but remained in a crouch like stance ready to jump.
“Stay back!” ordered Aaron as he brandished a golf club while Lindsay flashed a kitchen knife moving forward a bit to protect Lindsay.
“My God…Constance…Barbara?” inquired Lindsay as she recognized her transformed friends as they moved forward.
“Yes…” confirmed Constance as she smiled showing her new fanged teeth. “And we came to make you both part of our new pride.”
