Your reach seems to be influenced a bit. You feel yourself gravitating towards a book on the higher shelves; a cyan-colored one that features a rather fancy snowflake-symbol on the spine. The moment you touch it, though, you instantly draw back your hand as you feel an intense cold sear your skin! But how? It can't be any colder than 60°F in the room; but it felt like the book was made of glacial ice when you touched it. However, you are not one to back down once you've made up your mind, and you reach for the book once more; pulling it off the shelf. You have to bounce it around in your hands a couple of times from how cold it feels; feeling as if holding it for too long will give you frostbite, but slowly and surely your hands seem to adjust until you can hold it without issue; almost as if it doesn't feel cold anymore. However, considering the worn leather binding and fluffy fur trim around the edges of the cover were coated with a light dusting of frost, you assume that's far from the case. The front cover of the tome is very intricately designed, featuring prominent snow and wind symbols all across it. There is also strange text that you've never seen before on the cover, but for some reason you feel a certain familiarity by looking at it.
"Ah, the Tome of Everfrost," The witch says with curiosity, "An interesting choice it has made... This tome is said to have been authored by the very first master of Cold magics; which, at the time, were thought to be little more than a limited off-shoot of the School of Water Magic. She was able to master ice to a point she could do things that defied the laws of physics with the element; and the tome holds all of her icy incantations and spells within... It is very powerful, yes... Perhaps too powerful for it at this time... Or is it? Some say that the Tome chooses the Master, not the other way around. If this is fate, then I will not stop it. I only ask that it uses the power in the tome responsibly."
As you look at the tome in your hands, hearing the witch's words, you can't help but feel as though she is right. Should you have this kind of power? Can you even wield it properly? Well, there's only one way to find out, and that's to...
