Jennifer is facing the same director and once again outraged to be rejected.
"I'm really sorry again. It was just a miscommunication with your agent. We already have that role cast. You were booked to audition for the co-star role, but you're far too old to play the little sister."
Jennifer thanks the director for his time and promptly fired her agent. It was no great loss, he hadn't lined up any worthwhile roles for her in years anyway. But now she's beyond frustrated. She's certain this show is destined to make the career of whoever stars in it, but once again she's "too old".
A few days later, the doctor is shocked to see her again, "Listen I'm happy to perform whatever procedure you want, but aren't you worried you've become a little fixated on this one production?"
"I appreciate the concern, but an actress just gets a feeling about things like this. I'm sure this will be worth it."
The doctor doesn't look particularly swayed, but that doesn't matter. He's not who she needs to impress anyway. On the table once again, Jennifer experiences perhaps her most jarring reduction yet. She watches her breasts shrink until she's entirely flat, then feels her pubic hair recede as puberty is left behind, and then her teeth resizing and shifting as her mouth shrinks.
After the procedure is done she sits stunned for a moment. Then pushes herself to a sitting position. The doctor doesn't give her the final check up this time. Instead after getting dressed in a brightly colored hospital gown, she's led outside the ReGenesis facility by a nurse to the neighboring hospital's pediatric ward.
The whole time she's fascinated by the newfound size of the world, which is reinforced when the first step of the physical puts her height as below 5 foot and her weight as less than 50 lbs. She barely pays attention as the rest of the check up is completed and a receptionist sends her back to the clinic with a lolly pop.
She sits in the clinic waiting room, sucking on the candy and kicking her legs while the doctor reviews the results. He emerges and gives her an almost patronizing smile.
"Good news. Everything looks clear. You are a perfectly healthy seven year old."
Jennifer smiles, she's a year younger than when she first became an actress. Let's see that director call her too old now.
