The end of the school day arrived sooner than Connor thought it would. As soon as the bell rang, Connor packed his things and walked out of the classroom. He had only walked a few feet before he felt a hand on his shoulder. Connor turned his head to see Tad behind him, a large smile on his face.
“So, you excited about your date tonight?” he asked.
Connor nodded. “Yeah...I’m really looking forward to it,” he said. He paused for a few seconds before saying “I can’t believe this is actually happening…”
“Well, you better believe it’s happening!” Tad laughed. “Dude, you have no idea how happy I am for you!”
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this happy before, Tad,” Connor said.
“How could I not be happy?” Tad asked. “I’ve wanted to tell you that I was a Were for years, but I knew that I would be in serious trouble if I did. Now, you’ve moved across the country to the one place that you can safely discuss Weres, and best of all, you’re on the verge of becoming one yourself!”
Connor chuckled nervously, blushing while he scratched the back of his head. “I wouldn’t say that I’m on the verge of becoming one…” he admitted. “I mean, Ryan said that he’d turn me if the date went really, REALLY well tonight. And I mean, it’s only our first date.”
“Oh come on,” Tad said as the two of them walked out of the school’s front doors. “Ryan was obviously just saying that. He really likes you, Connor. He’s told me so himself!”
“Well yeah, but everything is happening so fast…”
Tad chuckled and pat Connor on the back. “That’s just how love works here in Moon Lake,” he said. “Relationships between Weres tend to move faster than they do between humans. The only reason you think things are moving too fast is because you’re not a Were!”
“I guess that makes sense....kind of…” Connor said. “But what about when Ryan turns me? I’ve never had sex before! I don’t know what I’m supposed to do! What if I mess up?!”
Tad tried his best to stifle a laugh at his friend’s overreaction. “Dude, relax,” he said, putting a hand on Ryan’s shoulder again as they walked down the sidewalk. “Everything will be fine. Let me tell you something: I was in your shoes when I first had sex with Amy. I hadn’t done anything like that before, and I was worried that Amy would hate me if I messed up. But you know what I learned?”
“What?” Connor asked curiously.
“I learned that sex isn’t something you can easily mess up,” Tad explained. “Everything just comes to you naturally. And if you still feel unsure of what to do, don’t be afraid to let the other person take control and guide you through it. Whatever you do, I’m positive it’ll be a night that both of you will always remember.”
“I suppose you’re right,” Connor said with a nervous chuckle. “I guess I’m just overthinking things.” He remained silent for a minute or two, thinking about what Tad had said, before asking “You really think that Ryan was just saying our date has to go really well for him to turn me tonight?”
Tad shrugged. “I could be wrong, but I really do think that Ryan wants to transform you tonight,” he said. “It’s clear that the feelings you two share for each other are mutual, so it would be pretty hard for your date to go wrong.”
“I guess you have a point,” Connor said. “Wow...I might actually become a Werewildcat tonight…”
