"I don't know Denise. From the looks of things in the living room the girl might have been left to sleep on the floor. And really who doesn't know not to leave a little girl alone all day?"
"Yeah why didn't the 60 year old woman with an apparently severe back injury carry Jenny up a flight of stairs?" Sal starts to speak but Denise keeps talking, "Listen I agree leaving her alone so long wasn't the best idea, but in 30 years on this job I have never seen a more well behaved and articulate kid this young. I'm sure Ms. Mitchell thought about it and believes Jenny is respinsible enough. I don't agree of course, but we have a child that's obviously happy and a relative making an honest, if sometimes ill advised, effort."
"So you're saying we mark this a pass even though she's noncompliant with unattended child statutes?"
"Yes, I get it you're young, but come on do you really thinking sending Jenny to foster care or something would be a better fit."
"No, I guess not."
The two agents reenter the room. Denise gives Jenny a card and tells her to have her aunt contact them when she gets back. The two leave and Jenny relaxes for the first time all day. That was a close one, she'll have to be more careful about that kind of stuff in the future.
