"No," Jenny straightens and stares down Jennifer. There's no way she's going to let a glorified toaster boss her around like this.
"What do you mean "no"?"
"I need the tablet. Now." Jenny musters as much authority as her squeaky voice will allow.
When Jennifer exits the room, Jenny believes she's won the altercation. That illusion is shattered when instead of the tablet, Jennifer returns with a stool. It sets it in the corner and points.
"Sit down and face the wall," the voice is stern and Jenny has to fight the urge to comply.
When Jenny doesn't budge, Jennifer tries a new approach, "I didn't let you go to those auditions just so you could become a little diva. If you can't behave like a good girl maybe I should just let them know you're not mature enough to be an actress."
Jenny's eyes go wide, "You can't!"
"I can and I will. You have until the count of three...one...t" *Jenny rushes to the stool* "That's more like it. Now you're going to sit there until I tell you to get up. Understood?"
"Yeah," Jenny mumbles.
"Clearly now and with respect."
"Yes, Aunt Jennifer, " Jenny's voice is small and defeated.
Jennifer leaves and Jenny is left to stew. Despite her best efforts, she's wound up under the exact kind of treatment she was trying to avoid. The worst part is until she gets that tablet back she's stuck being an obedient child or she'll lose the thing she gave up her age to get in the first place.
After what seems like hours, Jennifer returns. It spins Jenny around and crouches down to look her in the eyes, "Right where you should be. Good girl. Now tell Auntie Jennifer what you did wrong."
"I didn't do what you told me to." Jenny blushes as she speaks.
"And?"
"I talked back to you."
"And do you have anything to say to me?"
"I'm very sorry Aunt Jennifer. I'll be a good girl. Please don't make me quit the show."
"Apology accepted. Since you gave such good answers you'll just lose your screentime for the next week. Now clean your room then you can come down for breakfast."
Jenny gives a small nod as dread sets in. Can she really take a whole week of this?
