When Connor and Tad arrived at the Decker house, Tad gave Connor a friendly hug and wished him luck on his date with Ryan before going inside to prepare for his own date with Amy later that night.
Connor resumed his walk back home after saying goodbye to Tad. He had only walked down the street a few blocks when he heard the sound of a school bus coming down the road behind him. He heard the bus come to a stop and begin to let students off the bus, but he continued walking as if it wasn’t there. It wasn’t until he heard his sister’s voice shout “Connor!” that he turned around to see Ava jogging towards him.
“I’m surprised I actually caught up with you,” she said. “I figured that you would want to walk and talk with one of your friends, so I took the bus.”
“Thanks Ava,” Connor said, appreciating his sister’s respect for his privacy. “I feel like it would’ve been a bit awkward to talk to Tad about my date tonight if you were with us.”
Ava laughed. “Yeah, it would be kind of awkward, wouldn’t it?” She was quiet for a minute before saying, “I can’t believe you’re actually going to become a Were.”
“Honestly, neither can I,” Connor admitted. “The past few days have felt so surreal, but in a good way.”
“Mom and Dad seemed to have adjusted pretty well,” Ava said. “They said that they were actually considering becoming Weres themselves.”
The two siblings arrived at their home and walked up to the front door. When they opened the door, they were a bit surprised by what they saw.
Their parents, Kent and Diana, were sitting on the couch, looking at a book that the both of them recognized almost instantly. Neither Kent nor Diana seemed to notice Connor or Ava walking in, and they continued to look at the Moon Lake Guidebook.
“I had no idea that there were so many different types of Weres,” Kent said, looking a bit overwhelmed. “Werelions, Werefoxes, Werehorses…”
“I think you’d look good as a lion or tiger,” Diana commented, which earned a chuckle from her husband.
“You really think so?” he asked, beginning to think about what his wife just said. “Well, maybe I’ll look into it more. The only issue I have with all of this is the fact that in order to become a Were, I’ll have to have sex with another woman…”
“And I’ll have to have sex with another man…” Diana added. Neither of them noticed Connor and Ava quietly going upstairs, but waiting at the top out of sight.
“But it’s not like we’re going behind each other’s backs about this,” Kent continued. “No matter how attractive the woman who transforms me may be, you know that I’ll come right back to you at the end of the day.”
Diana smiled and kissed her husband on his cheek. “You’re a good husband,” she said. Kent returned the kiss before asking “What about you? What types of Weres have you been looking at?”
Diana thought to herself quietly for a few seconds before answering, “Well, I won’t lie; I’m a bit curious about Werecats.”
“But didn’t the book say something about all Werecats being bi, if not completely lesbian?” Kent asked, sounding a bit concerned.
“Yes, I know,” Diana responded. “Like I said, I’m only a bit curious about them. But then, I have found myself wondering what it would be like to have sex with another woman from time to time… Haven’t you ever wondered what it would be like to have sex with another man Kent?”
Kent was caught off guard by his wife’s question. “I...er…maybe once or twice, but I’ve never actually put a lot of thought into that…Maybe you could become a type of feline Were that doesn’t have the risk of becoming a lesbian?”
“I suppose that would be a better idea,” Diana said, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Sorry about that honey.”
“It’s perfectly fine, love,” Kent said, wrapping his arm around his wife. “We’re doing this to strengthen our marriage, and you were giving a suggestion.”
Diana smiled and kissed Kent again. “Thanks honey,” she said. “Now let’s continue looking through the Guidebook.”
“Agreed,” Kent said, turning to the next page in the book.
