When Jess finishes the pudding, Rachel wipes her face clean and keeps her on her lap. After a few minutes, Jess feels a very urgent pressure in her bowels. She hops off Rachel’s lap, intending on sneaking off to the bathroom. However, Jack takes the opportunity to take her hand and lead her in front of the head table, which is up in a stage in front of everyone.
“I just wanted to give my little sister a shoutout for doing the best she could,” Jack says loudly. All heads turn in their direction. Jess squirms uncomfortably. She can’t hold it in much longer. “Little kids can only do so much, but she went above and beyond. I’m so happy to have her in my life.”
Before Jack can say any more empty platitudes, Jess’s control breaks. She bends her knees into a squat. With a loud, wet fart, her bowels empty into her diaper. To make matters worse, it’s diarrhea. The smell makes Jess’s eyes water.
“Ooh, what a good poop, Jess!” Jack coos at her. Jess reluctantly straightens. Her diaper sags. “I think Mom forgot her diaper bag at home; would anyone be willing to change this sweet, stinky girl?” A few hands go up. “Thanks, guys.” One of the bridesmaids leads Jess offstage and to the group of people who offered to change her diaper.
Jess looks at her options, knowing she wants to go the route that will result in the least embarrassment.
