Rosa jumped back and Gloria was horrified at the sensation of her sneakers slamming into the ground in front of her. She was convinced she had died, and it wasn't until she was being scooped into a plastic cup did she shake off her shock and realize she hadn't been smashed into the carpet.
Gloria sensed a face and crawled up to the side of the cup to look out through its wall. She encountered a face the size of a sports stadium. She could barely make out the features of the maid, they were so large.
"Well look what I found!" boomed Rosa. It was probably a whisper, but to Gloria it sounded like a roaring jet engine.
Gloria ran around the cup in a panic, but Rosa had already covered the top with a piece of paper and a rubber band. There was no escape.
"This room isn't scheduled yet," said Rosa. "It should be empty. It looks like you picked the wrong room. Don't worry, it happens sometimes," she admitted. "It's not a problem, it just means that there's no record you were ever in here."
Gloria shook her antennae, the only thing she could think of to communicate with the massive mammal in front of her. She was grateful that this maid found her, and could fix this mistake she'd made. What luck.
"So that means..." Rosa grinned in an unsettling way. "That no one will know if I take you home."
Gloria panicked. This isn't possible! Surely this woman was joking.
Rosa seemed to sense Gloria's concern. "Oh don't worry, little bug, I'll take good care of you. I'm sure you expected to become human again once your stay was over, but you'll have to get used to your new life. There's no going back now."
