Over the course of the next two weeks, Deion helped Dave, whom was now going by Jayden, learn to live in his new skin. Since Jayden couldn’t go home, he moved into Deion spare bedroom. On top of that, they decided that Jayden would be Deion’s cousin. So Jayden Dalton went to school as a new transfer student.
During all of this, Jayden would try to get Deion to explain how he knew about the changes. Jayden finally figured that Deion had been white before and so his question changed to who Deion was originally. However, no matter how many times Jayden asked, Deion would simply brush the question off or change the subject.
Also during those two weeks, Deion noticed that he had grown again. At first he did not notice any changes, and that his clothes were fitting a little tighter was simply shrugged off. But when he woke up after a week to find he had gain an inch in height and ten pounds of muscle, Deion knew it was probably due to his recent return to the black race. However, by the end of the second week, when there had not been any further changes, Deion simply went to a store and purchased some clothes to fit his slightly increased size.

It was the Monday after another winning football game. While this time the other team had been easily defeated, Savannah had been no less enthusiastic. And as they lay in the dark room, the light through the windows reflecting off their dark skin, Deion felt like he knew who he was.
Therefore, as Deion was walking down the road to school when he spotted Spencer and his goons standing at a corner. Deion knew that there wasn’t any possible way to avoid the bigots, save turning and going another direction. But Deion knew that this would be a sign of weakness that they would exploit. Walking the final few steps, Deion waited on the curb as far from Spencer without looking like he was intimidated.
Deion watched as Spencer slowly worked himself into a rage. Coming to a boiling point, he yelled, “Surround the monkey. Today is the day that he learns his place.”
Before Deion could react, Silas and Lucas were standing behind him and were moving in to grab Deion’s arms. Dropping his bag, Deion turned quickly and punched the two idiots the face, breaking their noses. Turning back around, Deion was greet with the sight of Zane running away, and Spencer standing, mouth open in shock.
Taking the few steps up to the smaller boy, Deion slapped Spencer across the face causing Spencer to fall to the ground.
“You slapped me.” Spencer yelled in both outrage and surprise.
“Only real men deserve to be hit. Whiny, little boys are slapped.” Then hocking a luggie, Deion shot his saliva into Spencer’s face. Turning around, Deion picked up his bag and headed for school.
