Laura suddenly got an idea. What if she edited an old photo? Would that change the past? If she changed a photo from the past, that might affect the present more intensely.
She thought about her husband and children. Joel, her husband, was happy in his job, working with great people. She loved her own job, too, and after 16 years of marriage they were still very much in love. No need to change anything there.
Jessica, her 10-year-old daughter, was also doing well. She was in 4th grade and had plenty of friends; she was a secure child.
Only Stephen, her 14-year-old son, worried her. He was a sad boy who longed to fit in. And starting high school had been a challenge for him. He only had a couple close friends and was not liked by the rest of his classmates; he would probably be mercilessly bullied.
But Laura had an idea. She would select an old photo of Stephen, one from grade school or middle school, and enhance it. There were school pictures, pictures with friends. When he was in grade school he'd tried several sports but sucked at all of them. But she had the sports pics that had been taken.
