The three of them laughed in disbelief at the image. In fact, Addison was laughing so hard that she didn’t notice the waistband of her dress was ripped by something. Perhaps she'd fattened up a little, correctly?
She forced herself to breathe and looked over at Molly . . . only to see two long donkey ears on her head for real, and not just in the mirror!
Amanda's ears were also those of a donkey!
"Girls!" She cried, "your ears!"
"What are you talking about?" Molly giggled, turning to look at Addison. Her expression instantly changed from mirth to shock, and feeling sick to her stomach, Addison reached up and felt for her own familiar ears . . . to find two long fuzzy things instead.
"What's going on here?!?!" Addison cried, rapidly turning around, looking for some sign that this was all some kind of elaborate game.
She felt her dress fall down around her ankles, but instead of hearing Molly and Amanda laughing at her exposed lower body, they cried out in shock.
"Hey! Where did you get that?!" Amanda cried, looking pale.
"What?" Addison demanded.
"You've got a tail," Molly answered, staring at Addison's butt in disbelief.
Addison reached down and felt it, just on the top of her butt, where a tail would normally be on a . . . .. a donkey.
She pulled it as far to her front as possible, staring down at the thing, not wanting to believe what her eyes were telling her.
A pair of rips suddenly echoed throughout the House of Mirrors and Addison gawked at the fine donkey tails that had ripped through Molly's and Amanda's skirts.
"You girls have tails too," She informed them, looking into the mirror, not even trying to hide her body now. "Is it the mirrors doing this?"
"I don't know," Amanda admitted. "Let's get out of here!'
Out of habit, Addison pulled up her dress and followed the other two girls out of the House of Mirrors, only to find two little donkeys, both of which wore girls' clothes, staring up at them in sadness.
"It's not the mirrors," Molly realized. "It's this place! They're turning us into asses!"
"Come on, before we get worse," Amanda cried, frightened tears running down her face.
But suddenly Molly fell forward on to her hands, and Addison felt herself no longer able to stand upright. She also fell forward onto her hands.
"Help!" cried Amanda. "Somebody help!"
In response, the Coachwoman appeared, flanked by two of her shadow-men. "Two here, with three more on the way," She grinned, clearly enjoying herself.
Addison looked over at Molly, whose face had transformed into that of a donkey. "You did this on purpose," Addison realized, looking up at the Coachwoman.
"Always a demand for good and young jennies on the market, my dear girl," the Coachwoman smiled innocently. "Wait until they finish, then bring them to the line-up."
Addison reached up to feel her own face, only to realize that her hands had turned into hooves. She couldn't feel her face.
"Please!" She cried, looking at the shadow-men. "Please, I don't wanna be a donkey!"
"Me neither!" Amanda cried, frantically ripping off her shirt and looking down at herself as fur grew on her body. "This can't be happening!"
Amanda's face changed to a donkey, and she fell forward onto her hands, which were already changing.
Molly looked at Addison, shaking her head in disbelief. "This is crazy!" She cried. "This can't be happe – HEE-HAWW!"
Addison shuddered at the sound of the bray that had escaped Molly. "Please!" She cried up to the waiting shadow-men. "Please, I wanna go home! Don't let me be a donk- HAW-HEE!"
Addison caught a reflection of herself in another mirror, but instead of her once beautiful face and body she had always known, there was a small light brown donkey wearing the dress, hat, and shoes that she was.
It was already too late – Addison had completely turned into a donkey.
