Someone leads you to a dark room and closes the door. Suddenly, the lights flash on and a face appears on the monitor.
"Greetings, Agent. You do not know me, but I am responsible for the process that turned you into Ayano Suzuki. Today, we will work together to complete your transformation. It is not enough for you to look like Ayano. Your own identity must match hers perfectly. That includes speech, dress, mannerisms, and even memories. You will not leave this room until I am convinced you are, without any doubt, Ayano Suzuki."

"Banko Suzuki."
"Your mother's?"
"Yumi. She was killed three years ago in a car accident. I have accepted that she is gone, but my father never has."
"Do you have friends?"
"Three. Megan, Liana, and Carly. We've been friends since birth."
"What are your interests?"
"I love anime, shopping, and finding and reading as much manga as I can. I have several hundred copies in my room, organized by year of publication. My favorite anime is "The Golden Cat". It's from 1995, and I've watched it more than a hundred times. I know every moment by heart."

As the hours dragged on, your mental conditioning continued smoothly. You knew Ayano's life history forwards and backwards. You could speak in her voice and it didn't sound unnatural. You found yourself rubbing your middle finger with your thumb unprompted, which was Ayano's nervous habit. It felt like the man you were did not exist. Your name was Ayano. It had always been.
The voice seemed pleased. "Well done, Ayano. You are ready. But before we go, I need to make one small adjustment."
Someone wearing a full-body hazmat suit entered the room and motioned for you to push your hair aside. You felt a small device being placed on the back of your head, where it was perfectly concealed by your hair.
"The conditioning has taken effect, so to ensure you don't forget your mission, Agent, I have devised this. It contains a full recording of your original personality and identity, and will interface with your mind so you remember who you really are. But I must warn you, should it be damaged or displaced, there is a risk that your conditioning will overtake your mind and you will not only forget your mission, you will forget who you truly are. All that will be left is Ayano Suzuki."
