The first group to come up were four surfers, whom Dave saw earlier. They were high schoolers of around 16 or 17, with two boys and two girls. As they stepped up the temple, they were even holding their surfboards. Dave watched from the edge of the lined-up crowd.
“Approach, young ones!”
“Oh, great Eris! W-we’re so glad to be before you!”, said one of the boys, in the palm-tree swim trunks. The teens all looked equally nervous.
“Your goddess is humbled! Now, what change do you seek?”
“We…”…the young man stopped speaking. “Uh…we don’t know.”
“I guess we like something to do with the ocean, or water?”, said a blond haired, blue wetsuited girl.
“A form befitting water? Yes…” said Eris, leaning her giant head on an equally gigantic hand. “I suppose I can give you such a form. What offerings do you have in exchange?”
The teens looked at each other, all equally unsure. One of the other girls, a redhead, spoke up.
“I guess….our boards?”
“Your boards?”, exclaimed Eris, indignant. “Those plain things in your hands? ”
“Y-yes? S-sorry, we don’t have much.”
The goddess gave a light scowl, but her expression softened as she curled a finger by her chin. With a moment of thought, she grinned.
“I suppose it’s enough,” she stated. Nervously, the teenagers placed their boards down, and eyed their goddess; hoping for the best.
“A form of water…worry not, my young followers. For your mighty goddess Eris shall bestow the change you have asked!”
