Jess awakens in an unfamiliar room. She sits up slowly, trying to catch her bearings. To her horror, she’s in a playpen with another toddler girl.
“Oh, you’re up!” a voice chirps. Jess looks over. Her new sister-in-law Rachel’s younger sister Liza is beaming at her. Jess stands shakily. “Hi, honey, let’s get some food in you!” Liza picks Jess up and brings her out of what must be a living room and into a kitchen. Jess is put in a highchair. “Now, you’re just a baby, so you probably won’t understand, but it won’t hurt to tell you what happened last night.”
“Well, Jessie, after you fell asleep, your mommy asked if anyone would be willing to watch you for the night. Since I was leaving with Serena already, I naturally offered.” Liza chats up a storm as she heats up a bottle of milk and digs through cupboards. “You had a pretty gnarly diaper situation this morning, but you slept through the bath, and now you’ve got a fresh diapy on and are wearing Serena’s old dress!” Liza pops the warmed milk into Jess’s mouth. “And you look absolutely adorable!”
Jess sucks the milk down hungrily. It tastes different, but she’s not sure why.
“Oh, I hope your mommy doesn’t get upset with me giving you some of my breastmilk. I don’t keep formula in the house,” Liza says casually. Jess’s eyes boggle. She continues to guzzle the milk, however, deciding to keep up the façade of a normal toddler. If she can avoid the humiliation of someone knowing she should be an adult, that’s what she’s going to do.
Liza chatters as she feeds Jess a jar of baby food, wipes her face, and finally puts her back into the playpen. Then, she leaves the room. Seizing the opportunity, Jess decides to remove the suit. However, she can’t, no matter how hard she tries.
Horror builds as Jess thinks of the possibility that she might have gotten a permanent suit on mistake. Hopefully, that’s not the case, and she’s just trying to remove it wrong. She needs to find out which one it is, but she’s currently two, stuck in a playpen in the house of someone she met for the first time yesterday. What can she do?
