Crawling to the lazing toddler Jen sat down next to him. Derrick tilted his head toward her in surprise, "Oh hey Jen, did you need something?" he casually asked at the other's arrival.
Steeling herself Jen spoke, "Yeah...I need you to teach me how to be...rather how to enjoy being a toddler."
"I can do that" Derrick replied, "I noticed that you seemed a little down during shooting. You starting to have trouble staying a baby long to finish the show?"
She fiddled with her tiny fingers, knowing she'd have to tell him the truth so or later as he was sure to notice when she didn't get any older. "The thing is the doctor checked me out yesterday and discovered I have "age lock". I'm going to be a baby forever and I need to learn how to live with it" Jen admitted.
Derrick felt a touch of sympathy for Jen knowing she didn't want this, but resolving to help the other toddler make the best of it. The first thing he did was give her a comforting hug, "Don't worry I help you get through this, and who knows you may end up liking being three permanently" he told her.
After he let go Derrick launched into a lecture. His first lesson was that in order to enjoy toddlerhood she had to focus on the things she could now do, instead of the things she couldn't do, as that would only make her more depressed rather than happy.
Derrick explained that Jen could now suck on a pacifier or drink from a bottle if she so chose to. She could sleep in a crib rather than a bed or be carted around in a stroller rather than walking. He pointed out that Jen was at the perfect transitional age where she could have the slight advantages of a toddler, but continue to enjoy the perks of being a baby.
The topic Derrick focused on and talked about the longest were diapers. The young boy standing up and proudly flaunting his disposable undergarments the entire time he waxed nostalgic about them. He mentioned how soft and comfy they were to wear, like having a pillow for your bottom. He went on about how much better and convenient they were then the toilet, you just go in them whenever you feel the need and someone else changes you into a fresh clean one. At this point he elaborated that there were two ways to go about using your padding; you could do it as soon as you feel the urge or you could wait until your body goes on it's own.
Derrick admitted that he was quite fond of doing the latter. He also told how fun it was to stay in a diaper for a couple of minutes after using it, particularly dirty ones as it felt extremely satisfying to walk around with a couple of warm solids in your pants and letting the grown ups find out by smell that you needed changing.
That brought him to his last part of the topic, diaper changes. Those he explained were nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed by and were the coup de grace of the toddler experience and in his opinion the ultimate form of pampering. So long as Jen start looking at the crinkly underwear in a positive way everything would be fine.
Before he sat back down Derrick made a show of wetting his diaper in front of her, the apple juice having worked it's way through his system in the short time he had been teaching her. Sitting down with a squish Derrick sat cross legged, idly rubbing the front of his soaked padding with his hand while giving her a wide grin.
He then told her one last tip of advice which was when in doubt to let her younger instincts take over and tell her what to do. Seconds after he said that his ever watchful mother swooped in to take care of him.
