Jess expects to be set down once they’ve reached the reception hall. However, she’s carried through the large room filled with tables and chairs, down a hall, and to a door with a sign on it reading “Daycare”. She begins to squirm frantically.
“Now, now, Annabelle, don’t act up,” scolds the woman, pushing open the door and stepping inside. “You were so well-behaved for the ceremony! And you love daycare!” She frowns. “Unless you need another change.” The woman sticks a finger down the back of Jess’s diaper. “Nope, still dry.” The action shocks Jess into freezing.
Before she can do anything else, Jess is handed over to whoever is in charge of supervising the daycare.
“Any special rules for her care?” the daycare supervisor asks.
“Her parents tried to potty train her too early, which caused some problems, so the doctor has her restricted to diapers for now. She’s not supposed to use anything other than her diaper. Also, only organic foods with no added sugar, and no sweets of any sort.”
“Got it,” the supervisor says. Jess scowls. Not only has she been mistaken for a toddler, she’s been mistaken for a toddler with overbearing hippie parents. The woman coos a goodbye at Jess, then leaves the daycare. Jess is set down next to a pile of blocks, which a boy slightly older than her is playing with.
Jess tries to think of a way to escape. However, her thought processes is interrupted by…
