"We need to get to the water and fast." Said Damon. "We can't risk being caught."
"I know but… Where are we going to go? We don't know if there's even a safe place to sleep underwater. There could be sharks or giant fish that could eat us at any moment." Said Monica.
"It's not like we have much of a choice." Damon sighed.
Damon's single limb, that were once his legs, soon began to spasm as his red and black swim trunks seemed to be elongating and fusing with his lower body. Before long, his swim trunks stretched to cover his whole lower body before suddenly turning into scales.
In the place of his two legs, Damon now had a fish tail. It was a dark red tail with a thick black strip on the sides of his new limb. Even his tail fins, which were otherwise a light shade of red, had a black strip in the middle of the fins.
Damon looked over to Monica, who was staring over her changed body.
Monica's lower body was now completely made up of a long pink and purple tail. While it would seem a bit trite for a mermaid to have a pink tail, Monica couldn't help but look at her new limb with a bit of awe.
"It's kind of… beautiful." She sighed in wonder.
Damon nodded before his eyes spotted gills opening up at the sides of her belly. On top of that, her bikini top was now replaced by two seashells that covered her nipples.
Once Damon felt gills opening up at his sides as well, he knew that their transformations were complete.
Monica couldn't believe it. "We're… we're…"
"Merfolk." Damon said, his voice carrying the same disbelief.
As if it understood their words, the merbaby bagan to coo.
Besides the baby's noises, the silence between the two was deafening before Monica opened her mouth.
"I really like your tail." Monica said, her eyes admiring the coloring and the muscular features of her husband's tail.
"Thanks. Your tail is really pretty too."
Monica crawled up to Damon and cuddled up against him. Giving a small kiss to his chest.
It was then that they heard the baby cooing again.
Upon hearing the baby's happy noises, the mercouple stopped and focused their attention on their child.
Seeming out of a newfound parental instinct, Damon and Monica began kissing the baby affectionately.
Their baby happily slapped at the sand with its tail as its new parents showered it with loving kisses.
