“Guys,” Pete said, bursting though the door into the kitchen.
Sarah was startled by this and yelled suddenly, “What?” She asked. Alan looked up to see Pete with the box in his hand.
“I bought a game!” Pete said,
“You really burst in here just to tell us that?” Alan said,
“Well... yeah. It’s supposed to be 18 plus. So it’s probably fun. It was only 10 bucks so it can’t hurt to try it,”
“Well... we aren’t doing anything, are we,” Sarah asked Alan,
“Nope. I’ll wake up Diana,” Alan responded. He walked over to the couch and woke up a messy haired girl. She had fallen asleep while looking at her phone.
They all sat down at the table, Diana sat down last, yawning as she did. She noticed everybody looking at her, “What?” She looked down at her chest. She realised most of bra was showing, her top must’ve been nudged while she was asleep.
“Okay, so. I had a look through the instructions. The game said that all players have to 18+ to play,” Pete began,
“And, you know we’re all 15,” Sarah said,
“I’m 16!” Diana quickly chimed in,
“Still,” Alan said, “we’re all under 18,”
“I know.” Pete said, “that’s why I want to play it. It will be fun. I had to tell the chick selling it I was buying it for my ‘older brother’,”
“Okay. So what do we do?” Diana asked,
“Well first,” Pete said grabbing the instructions, “we each pick one of the rings and place it on your index finger,”
“Which one is that?” Diana asked,
“The one you point with,” Alan told her,
“Got it,” she said, smiling back,
“Then...” Pete said, he reached into the box and pulled out a bag of the rings and a crystal ball looking thing. It was metal and had a large glass ball clutched in the middle. Held up by a tripod, “it says to just put them on,”
“Nothing else? Not how to play?” Sarah asked, “you said you read the instructions,”
“Well... I read the back of the box. It said stuff about how it’s always fun and never repetitive. And said a bunch that it’s 18+,”
“Well, lets just try it. Maybe the ball is battery operated and will tell us what to do or something,” Alan said,
“That’s likely,” Sarah said,
“Well at least let’s try it, it might work or it might now. Putting on a ring won’t be too difficult,”
“Okay,” Sarah said.
Pete opened the bag of rings and took out 4. Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green. They were very big.
Sarah took the Blue ring and slipped it on her finger. It didn’t come close to fit her but she just left it.
Pete took the Green ring, he did the same and it didn’t fit.
Diana took the Red ring, she slipped it on and was disappointed to not see it fit.
Finally, Alan took the Yellow ring and slipped it on.
Before their eyes, the ball lit up, with the words:
‘Are all players prepared to play? Players may join later but none shall leave,’
“Told you,” Alan said to Sarah, she rolled her eyes at him.
“Where do we say yes?” Pete asked, quickly the ball glowed green. His ring suddenly shrink and fit around his finger. Not too tight to be uncomfortable, but tight enough to not be able to get it off, “What the hell,”
“Yes,” Sarah said, the ball glowed blue, she felt her ring quickly shrink and get stuck on her finger, “it’s voice activated,”
“Yeah!” Diana said cheerfully. The ball glowed Red, looking at her ring shrunk suddenly and she couldn’t get it off either.
“Alan?” Sarah asked,
“I’m not sure I want to do this. I have a weird feeling,”
“Come on, Alan,” Pete said, “it will be fun. And it won’t be too long. Look it says only 7 rounds on the box,”
“Okay...” he said apprehensively, “I guess... yes?” The ball glowed Yellow, his ring shrunk and was stuck.
The ball changed again. It’s colour went back to white. The text now wrote:
‘All available players are ready. The game will begin with the youngest to oldest player. No players may leave the game or room.’
“That’s weird,” Sarah said,
Suddenly a deep yet soothing voice said out of the ball, “the game contains 6 rounds. Each round will cause a player to change physically. Once the first game is over. Other variations are available, such as mental change, animal changes, etcetera. The game will begin, now.”
