Rick smiles at the sleeping baby. It’s always convenient when the babies sleep during the car ride. He picks the baby up and carries him to the daycare van. As he buckles the baby into a car seat, he spots something shiny on the cord of the baby’s pacifier. Curious, he looks at it.
“Well, that’s not safe for someone your age to have,” Rick says quietly. He takes the ring from the baby, slipping it into his back pocket. Once they arrive at the daycare, he can put it in the lost and found. Or maybe even drop it off at the police station. It was a nice ring, after all; someone might have called the police to report it lost.
Rick and the other daycare workers load up the rest of the babies, then drive back to the daycare. Thankfully, all of the babies fell asleep either before they left or during the drive, so it’s a simple matter of putting them in cribs for their naps. Once the babies are put in their cribs, Rick drops the ring he found into the lost and found box.
