Panicking, Oliver suddenly spots something. It’s a pack of brand-new barrettes. They must have fallen out of someone’s diaper bag. He picks them up, slips on the ring, and then puts on one of the barrettes. A shiver passes over his body. His hair lengthens, and he doesn’t have to check his diaper to know that he’s become a she again.
Unfortunately, that seems to be the only change. Oliver scowls, disappointed that she didn’t get even a little bit older. She gets to her feet and toddles over to her clothes. However, her clothes are nowhere to be found. Oliver swallows nervously.
Great. Now she’s a baby girl, and stuck like that until she can find something else. Making things worse, she feels someone pick her up.
“What are you doing over here, sweetie?” It’s Crystal’s mom. Oliver changed into a girl for no reason. “Come on, you should be with the other little babies.” Crystal’s mom carries her back to the sandbox. “What’s your name?”
“Wivia,” Oliver squeaks, quickly changing her name to be feminine.
“Olivia. Do you mind if I call you Liv?” Crystal’s mom asks. Olivia shakes her head. “Okay, Liv. You stay right here. I’ll keep an eye on you so that you don’t wander off until your parents come to get you.”
Olivia sits in the sandbox grumpily, back to square one, but a girl. Yet again.
