Troy was never a fan of this family tradition, he didn’t grow up with it and had only started coming three years ago. His Mom married someone who has done this every year since he was a kid and insisted they had to join. He thought it was crazy the first year, but he ended up as one of the oldest kids so that was cool. The second year he ended up as a 4 year old, he was so humiliated, but everyone seemed cool about it. Now he had no choice but to come and he had to admit some of his cousins were cool, Eve for example was really cool.
Troy saw that Lori had gotten him, he laughed at her poor attempts at kicks and punches, he will try to teach her a couple of real moves later. With his body she could pull them off no problem.
He watched as a few more switches happened, then it got to Quinn. Quinn was one of the weirder of the group, he was a little kid troublemaker and Eve’s younger brother. He was wearing a silly costume with bells all over it, he said he was in a play before this but Troy figured he was pulling another prank. The Fowlers are always pulling pranks, but Quinn takes it too far. Last year he only wrapped up socks and underwear in his gift, he then didn’t pack any extra clothes other than what he wore to the party, he wore some Christmas themed overalls and striped shirt to resemble an elf. Robbie got him and then swapped a few days later with Drew, by that time the clothes reeked.
He saw that Quinn himself had gotten Lori, which actually isn’t a huge change for him since they are only a year apart. He cheered as the two teased each other. He got some advice from Dylan last year to be a good sportsman about the changes, the family always respects you more if you play along.
Troy was selected to go next, he wanted to get someone like Dylan or one of the other older kids and picked one of the bigger presents. He didn’t mind if it was a girl so he picked the largest pink box. Troy went into the change room and unwrapped the gift.
“What the hell is this?” Troy pulled out a pink onesie suit that seemed to be half his size, this had Quinn written all over it. He turned it around and recognized it from A Christmas Story. Troy groaned and took off his clothes, he noticed that Quinn had forgotten to include underwear with the suit. Troy stripped and placed all his stuff on the shelf with his name on it. He stuck his arm into one of the sleeves and touched the stone, no way he was squeezing all the way into it. Troy felt the magic of the stone, a tingling sensation took over and he felt like he was falling for a brief second. The room got bigger and his face changed shape. Once he got his barings he then fully pulled up the suit. He looked at Quinn’s face in the mirror and slipped the thing on.
“I don’t get how he finds this amusing, it’s his body in this thing.”
Troy walked out of the changing room and made an impression of A Christmas Story where the main character walks down the stairs. He then walked back to the kids table.
“Quinn, what the hell?”
Quinn, now in Lori’s body, couldn't stop giggling, obviously proud of his prank.
“Ugh, you better have SOMETHING normal to wear.” Troy had never gotten Quinn before and didn’t know what to expect.
After the rest of the group finished the switches they started to have some dinner, this is when Troy discovered part of the prank, the mittens were attached to the outfit making it annoying to eat.
“You think you’re really funny Quinn, don’t you?”
“I like to think so” Quinn was still giggling.
Troy was annoyed at Quinn, the event was embarrassing enough without added pranks.
