Animalia Magazine: Gaming in July

added by makutamon 3 years ago O

The July issue of Animalia Magazine talked not only about Animalia's first ever comic convention, but also about comic books and video games in general. This was considered important since Animalians, especially uplifted ones, didn't know much about those in general. But not only did it help them understand why some people saw them as certain characters, it also helped understand some of the "passes" made at some of them.

---

The main article was about how the idea for the for the A.C.C. came about. While the information that it was about the stash of comic books that had been found by Iphis and Ianthe, it also showed similar cases of lucky discoveries that made people extremely wealthy. The article also included a map of the convention and where certain things could be found. It also included a URL that could allow people to take a digital/virtual tour of the convention, but there were places on said tour that would require a premium account to access.

---

There was also a historical article that talked about the evolution of video games from arcade cabinets to home consoles, as well as the most controversial/hilarious moments in the history. While some of them were well known, there were others that were surprising to most people.

One sub-article in this was about the urban legend about the game Polybius being cursed. Not only did it talk about the strange things that seemed to happen to people that played it, but also examined some of the theories that surrounded it. The most accepted theory, from the article itself, was that the game was causing epileptic seizures due to its "content" being played for long periods of time.

---

There was also an article that talked about the "time period" between Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that wasn't covered in movies but was covered in comic books, especially since they covered what he did during WWII. This was because there were comic books from the "hoard" that was discovered by Iphis and Ianthe that covered said time period. The first group of comics talked about how Indy kept the Golden Fleece out of what was left of the Ottoman Empire after WWI; the next set talked about Indy going after the Spear of Destiny, and how it ended with Indy wondering if the spear was responsible for the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan; and the third one, which took place in the post-war years, talked about Indy going after a, seemingly more powerful, Philosopher's Stone. Said stone was seemingly more powerful than the one that appeared in Harry Potter because in the series, it was said that the stone could animate the dead or annihilate the living.

---

There was also an article that talked about the origins of certain creatures in series like Game of Thrones, and it was rather surprising to learn that some, such as dire wolves, were real creatures that existed on earth. This was a little more well known since one of Miss Fabina's 'immigrants' was a dire wolf himself.

It also talked about where certain characters from television shows like American Gods originated from. While some might have been well known, others were a bit more obscure and surprising, especially to fans of said show.

---

Overall, the July Issue of Animalia Magazine, while a little late, was a great way to learn more about popular culture in general, how comic books and video games helped shape it, and how it related to Animalia in general.
