Julie saw a lion before her standing on two feet like a human. "Leo? Is that you?" She asked. Rex stood beside him whimpering. He was wondering how Leo would get out of this mess. He was even considering talking so he could explain the whole thing again to Julie. But before he could, Leo spoke out. "Uh, yeah. It is. You know the party I went to last night?" Leo asked nervously. "Yeah... What does that have to-" Julie was cut off by Leo. "Well it was an animal themed party, and I kinda passed out in my costume." Leo laughed nervously.
Julie looked at Leo with a stern look for a moment, but giggled at the thought. "Okay. I get it. I'm surprised you slept in that thing. It looks hot." Julie said laughing. While Leo's lie worked in one way, he was sweating through his fur to tell the truth. "Anyway, sorry for barging into your house. I just heard a loud noise, and I got worried. But it was probably just in my head." Julie rubbed the back of her head. "But while I'm here, you wanna do something today?" Julie asked.
Jake looked at Rex's expression. He looked surprised considering how Leo had managed to keep hold of the secret. "Uh... Maybe some other time. Or later tonight. I got some... Things... To take care of." Leo said turning back to Julie. "Oh... Okay. Call me if you want to do anything then." Julie said slightly disappointed closing the door. Leo leaned in to hear her footsteps with his feline ears. They become distant until he couldn't hear anything. Leo sighed in relief. "Man, that was close." He said breathing heavily.
"You alright, pal?" Rex asked with a concerned look on his face, which made Leo laugh. "And what's so funny?" Rex asked slightly annoyed. "I'm sorry. Just looking at you being so expressive, it's funny to think about. Dogs don't usually have looks of irritation often." Leo said continuing to laugh. Rex was slightly irritated, but could understand how it was funny. And he might as well use that to avoid anymore questions that made him uncomfortable to answer.
"Hey, come on. You don't hate me now do you? I'm just poking fun." Jake said wrapping his arms around Rex's neck and cuddling up with him. While Rex was a bit timid keeping the pet charade up, he still loved those moments the most. "He he. Nah. I couldn't be mad at you after all the years." Rex laughed as Leo started scratching the back of his ear with his clawed fingers. "Oh yeah... That's the spot." Leo giggled at his response.
"Guess your right. Nothing did change. Your still my dog." Jake said smiling holding Rex close to his chest. Rex respond, licking his feline muzzle.
