Damon, Monica, Tim, and Ana thought long and hard about the people they would want to join them as merfolk.
Damon thought about Colton. He was a childhood friend of Damon's ever since Colton moved into the neighborhood.
Damon always considered Colton not only as a great friend but also a great supporting person in general. Whenever Damon felt overwhelmed by his nagging and strict parents, he would sneak out at night and go to Colton's house.
Colton's family was far more kind to Damon and probably considered him a second son as they often bought new video games and movies to entertain Damon when he paid a visit. Plus, Colton's mom was an amazing cook as well.
In a nutshell, Colton and Damon were like two brothers from different mothers, so Damon considered him a good candidate to be a cocky but well-meaning merman.
Monica thought about Lupe, a friend that was with her ever since elementary school.
Similar with Colton's dynamic with her husband, Lupe was a supportive friend that was one of the few bright spots for Monica as she grew up in an abusive household.
What made Lupe's family different from Colton's was that her family preferred to explore outside and take flights to Mexico City to take hikes around the mountains and explore the pyramids.
Lupe also had an affinity for Aztec and European mythology, so she was well aware of the existence of merpeople. In fact, Lupe had once admitted to Monica about her frequent dreams of being a beautiful mermaid.
Lupe was often embarrassed by her fairytale mermaid dreams as a teen but Monica thought that maybe Lupe could truly embrace her merhood as an adult.
Ana thought about Harmony. She was a young Catholic woman that lived near the beach.
She was characterized by her long blonde hair, blue eyes, and her warm smile. She loved kids and was often Ana's co-worker within the nursing field.
What made Ana think of Harmony right away was when she once talked about Li Ban - A mermaid who became canonized as a saint under the name St. Muirgen.
Ana thought that someone like Harmony becoming a mermaid would almost be poetic in a sense that she would follow Li Ban's footsteps, well… more like finsteps.
Plus, with Chloe's explanation of how merpeople tend to be at risk with human dumping toxins underwater - Another nurse being a mermaid would be a great help to the village.
Plus, Harmony could be a good godmother for the merchild.
Finally, Tim thought about Adrian. He was one of the few friends that Tim made during his time in the army and was one of the fewer to have ever made it out of the army alive.
Adrian was a man of strong muscles and an even stronger brain. His strategies on how to tackle an enemy base often made him the butt of jokes from arrogant army leaders - flabbergasted at the idea of a newcomer ever being better than a general.
Tim trusted in Adrian's plans and it was due this trust that the two managed to complete their missions while many a soldier fell to the ground.
Needless to say, neither of them complained when they eventually left the army four years later. Unlike Tim, Adrian was completely disillusioned by his service and went on to live in a car as an Uber driver, detesting the outside world.
To say Tim felt bad for Adrian would be an understatement. He thought that maybe Adrian would find happiness with a chance to live underwater and find meaning in the more peaceful seascape.
With their minds set, Damon and his friends told their choices to Cura, who then went on to use her limited magic to what they looked like.
"Alright. Stacy, Colton, Lupe, Harmony, and Adrian, correct?" Cura said as she began to see what the five looked like.
The group nodded in response.
"Okay. I'll see what I can do in summoning them to the beach. If they accept, they'll join you as merfolk. Once again, I'm sorry that I couldn't change either of you back to humans. Hopefully, all of them will accept this gift."
Chloe sighed. "Yeah, yeah. Listen, I could get used to being a fish but… I just can't stand being away from Stacy for the rest of my life. Please, at least let her know I'm okay if you meet her."
"I will." Cura assured as she flicked her tail and swam away.
