Wrapped up in a digital world, made of ones and zeroes. That was Thomas Hernandez, smartest in all of his school. Computers were his thing above all other subjects, his life eventually becoming completely revolved around factual evidence.
Now, yes, as you may guess, he did not believe in such things as magic. In his factual world, such a thing could never exist. A-pluses, high averages, gaming companies, and landing a full scholarship was the only thing on his mind as he was walking through the local mall.
Why then, you might ask, did he find himself inside of the Magic Shop, full of the very thing he believed to be superstition? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe he stumbled inside by pure accident, maybe he subconsciously wanted to see this popular shop for himself, or maybe fate herself intervened and placed him there.
No matter the cause, he was there now, and you are with him in his story. Now, let us see how he shall react, shall we?

Thomas picked up a rose, its petals glittering with some otherworldly shine. Puzzled, Thomas looked at it closer. It couldn't be magic, that was for sure. What was it, then?
