As she drifted off into the waves, it struck Joanna that there was truly only one thing she now lacked: companionship. Her body was a work of art, sheer beauty mixed with raw power that sent her kicking fast into the ocean... but art was made to be shared. Oh yes, there might be all sorts of life underwater, but it would take another sentient creature to truly appreciate what she had become. Searching for such a person would have to be her priority.
The thought was at the forefront of her mind as she struck out into the wild blue yonder, pushing at high speed through the water with every motion of her powerful tail. She was like a blissful jet, a smile plastered upon her face, as she spent the next several hours beelining along the coastline. To where she headed, Joanna couldn't say - she simply let the currents guide her, content for now to head wherever they might lead.
The sun was nearing its zenith when she felt a more powerful tug in a particular direction. Something yanking her attention that way - something utterly mystical. She fould feel magic like that which had changed her rippling through the water nearby... another mermaid! It had to be! Grinning with anticipation, she tore off in that direction, eager to see what form her fellow ocean-dweller might take. Whether they were just like her or entirely different, she hardly cared - she just couldn't wait to have some sort of companion!
