Susan kept her breaths metered, trying not to freak out. They'd done some serious quality shit that night, but she had convinced herself she was at least clean enough to get them home.
It was better than she could say for Penny, who was barely conscious, slumped seat-belted into the passenger seat. She was pretty far gone, snapping and growling randomly, occasionally howling softly. Probably just whatever was in her head, Susan thought. Penny had never done this before on E, but there was probably no harm in it.
As she drove, Susan realized that she very definitely was freaking out, and did the sensible thing by pulling over into a motel parking lot.
A few minutes after handing her credit card to an attendant that knew better than to ask questions and they had a room.
Their parents would be mad, but they'd probably rather this than a car crash.
Susan dragged Penny into the room, and they locked the door and settled down to ride out the effects of the drugs.
