You decide on one of your younger brothers. Just to test if they work. A bit of thinking later, you moved to get your six-year-old brother Timīs shoes for the test. As Tim is rather small and chubby, itīs something quiet opposite to yourself.
You unwrap your new socks in the kitchen, then got Timīs shoes out of the shoe cabinet by the front door and quickly move back to your own room. There, you pull off the socks you are wearing and slip the new socks on. Then, with some anticipation, you pull the small shoes over your toes. More then the tips didnīt fit in, a you have rather big feet yourself, being size 48 in contrast to the small size 30 Tim has.
Seconds pass as you sit there, feeling silly with the small shoes on your toes. But then a shudder went through your body, and you begin to shrink smaller, slowly vanishing into your now far too big clothes. Meanwhile, the shoes slowly slip over your feet until they fit right on them. Your body has shrunken to around a third of his old size, the same as Tim is. You crawl out of your clothes, naked beside the socks and shoes you have on your feet. Once free, you give yourself a look over. You have small, short, stick-like arms, little stubby fingers, a bit of baby fat on your stomach, and really short legs. You move over to the mirror, and look in wonder as you see yourself as a twin to your little brother. Thatīs cool you say, and even your voice sounds just like Timīs.
After admiring yourself a couple of minutes you decide to turn back. You now know the socks work, and you can have all the fun you want with them. You slip out of Timīs shoes and look around. Then you hit your head with your small fist, you have forgotten to bring your own shoes up with you.
Just as you decided to run to get your shoes, you hear the front door opening and closing. A glance to the side let you realize that should be your older sister Susan with her about a month-old baby boy Ken. She visited rather often, living only a few hundred meters away from the rest of the family.
Tom? Are you there? she calls you. With a start you remember promising to babysit her son today for her, another advantage of living near. But you canīt as long as you look like Tim, and you also canīt run to grab your shoes right now.
As you didnīt answer her, you hear her moving to the kitchen, most likely getting a cup of tea made while she waited for you. That is bad you think. I canīt get my shoes as long as she is in the kitchen waiting for me. Then you think if you can get to Timīs room and get some clothes, you can get your shoes as Tim instead. Itīs a risk, but better then disappoint your sister.
You have luck that both your door as well as Timīs are open as you quietly move over, and quickly put on a set of clothes that you find. Then you head down.
