Millie plunked a weathered looking old wooden casket on the coffee table
in front of me.
By 'casket' I don't mean the one people are buried in but the small
square foot sized boxes that valuables are stored in.
I could see the various engravings of spirals and serpent heads
on the boxes brass fittings,so I shouldn't have been too surprised at what might be inside it.
Millie popped open the lid and inside I gazed apon the coiled
up skeleton of a snake
crammed inside.
It was gross looking but clearly not something that was going to bite me with those still wicked looking fangs
so I asked Millie what was so special about the
skeleton of a long dead snake.
Then I did a double take as I remembered Millie was a
member of a coven of wannabe shapeshifting witches who
worshiped
some snake goddess or god.
"Oh" I said as I realized this dear departed snake in the casket
must be related to Millie's witch coven.
There was a knock at our apartment door and I just sat on the couch staring at both the dead snake and the rest of Millie's witch coven as all 13 witches gathered in a circle around me and the casket on the coffee table.
I should have run away at that point but for some reason I felt
frozen to the spot and so became the witch covens first human
transformation subject.
The actual transformation started painlessly as the scales
started racing along my skin but as the changes sank into my insides and skeleton that
was another matter entirely
