“Cool!” Colton exclaimed. “I’m always down for partying.”
Harmony giggled. “As a nurse, I think I should go with you guys in case something happens. I’ve been in hospitals long enough to know there are always new patients once the bars open up.”
Cura grinned. “Good idea, Harmony.”
Lupe didn’t want to be the one left out. Plus, parties always helped in improving her mood back on the surface. “I’d love to go, too!”
Soon everyone’s eyes were on Adrian. He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. “Heh, why not?”
After leaving the Chiana Table with a paid check, Cura took the group to a nightclub - The Maidan Mahara, otherwise known as “The Trench”.
The inside was packed with wild merfolk having the times of their lives. There were bioluminescent jellyfish that tined lit up the otherwise dark building with heavy tints of blue and red. There were a few more mischievous merpeople that took a pufferfish, with its spines removed, and fed it some sort of pill that caused it to inflate into a glowing ball that nearly everyone in the club threw around like a beach ball.
In the center of the action were club-goers going all out on the dancefloor. The music can best be described as a mix of dream pop, techno, and whatever music magic merfolk did to make their voices so illustrious.
Within all of the energetic action, Lupe felt a bit intimidated and decided to maybe try sitting in a bar and getting a few drinks before she got the confidence to feel like she could fit in.
Lupe flicked her tail and sat on a chair. She turned to see how her friends were doing.
Adrian and Cura were talking to each other in a conversion. As the conversation continued, a purple-tailed redhead mermaid with an athletic build swam up behind Adrian and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before swimming off. Cura giggled as she saw Adrian’s widened eyes.
Harmony was busy looking around for any unlucky mermaid or merman that could collapse from their reckless behavior.
To Lupe’s surprise, Colton was getting a big piece of the action. A few mermaids noticed the wild flaming pattern on his tail and decided to approach him. In a few moments, a mermaid noticed his nearly all-black behind and decided to playfully slap his scaly rear. Before Colton could say anything, another mermaid grabbed him and kissed him on the lips, causing him to close his eyes and moan in pleasure. Lupe quickly turned away once she saw a third mermaid kissing him down from his belly to his groin.
Lupe shuddered. “Maybe this is a bit too much for me. I mean, I’m used to family parties and even the occasional school dance but…” Her thoughts began to wander before she suddenly felt someone touch her shoulder.
She yelped as she noticed a merman was sitting right next to her. Lupe was about to swim back to the safety of Harmony when she noticed the familiar features of the merman. The neck-length brown hair, the green tail, his muscular build…
“Alejandro!” Lupe said with a smile.
