As Jeff pressed enter and the program whirred into action, he noticed one section out of place. Maybe it was just a glitch, or maybe he'd mistyped, but, where the "awareness" settings had once said "User: aware," they now said "Awareness: random." For a moment, he wondered what exactly that meant, but then, everything went black.
Maybe he shouldn't have tried to play God.

Erik woke up to a dark, stuffy room. At first he thought he hadn't opened his eyes, but, after a few blinks, he realized it was still dark out. That, or he'd somehow ended up in a room with no windows.
Erik White was a senior at the local high school, the star of the track team, and a bit of a celebrity among his female classmates and the other jocks. Even a few sorority girls knew his name. To all the others boys at school, he was more infamous than famous. "Big Dick Erik," as he was sometimes called, was a dick in more ways than one. All the girls he'd been with knew the main reason for the nickname — you wouldn't think it from his soft uncut six inches, but he was a grower. As soon as he got through puberty, he took to strutting around the locker room, towel slung over his shoulder, junk swaying in the open air. He sometimes admitted to himself that he kind of got off on the attention, but it didn't matter. Even if he got a hard on in a room full of dudes, nobody would dare say anything.
Truth be told, his home life was shit. His dad had a bit of a drinking problem — more than a bit if he was being honest — and, with his mom out of the picture since their divorce while Erik was in middle school, he was stuck taking the brunt of his dad's tempers. He respected the man — I mean, who wouldn't, six foot five with a body like the vikings he was descended from buried under his beer gut — but Erik sometimes felt like he hated him. So, yeah, so what, he got pissed some days and shoved a few nerds in lockers or whatever, textbook bully stuff. He knew he was being a dick, but did it matter? They'd forget it in a few years, and he would move out.
Blearily, he tried to sit up in bed. Something felt...off. He couldn't quite place what it was.
Today, Erik's actions were finally going to catch up to him. And he was the only one who'd notice anything was wrong.
