While Tad and Amy were at the movie and Connor was entering the Were society, Kent and Diana Ross were beginning to grow increasingly concerned. They had expected that Connor would be home sometime before 10 PM, but when an hour passed and there was no sign of Connor, the two parents began to become increasingly worried.
“What’s taking him so long?” Diana asked her husband. She had been pacing back and forth in front of the window for quite some time now, only stopping occasionally to peer out the window into the front yard and see if Connor was approaching. “He never usually stays out this late…”
“I’m sure he’s fine honey,” Kent said, trying to comfort his wife. While he appeared to be much less concerned about Connor than his wife was, Kent was merely masking most of his concern to prevent Diana from becoming even more worried. “Didn’t Connor mention something about possibly staying the night at Ryan’s?”
Diana paused and thought for a moment. “I think I recall him saying something like that,” she said. “But I thought he would’ve at least texted us and told us where he was.”
“He probably didn’t think to text us when he was on his date,” Kent guessed. “I’m sure he’ll send us a text letting us know where he is. Besides, this is a big night for him. Connor doesn’t need us texting him every five minutes while he’s on his date.”
“Right….you’re right…” Diana said, stepping away from the window and sitting down on the couch next to Kent. “I just can’t help but be worried about him.”
“Moon Lake is a safe town,” Kent said, wrapping his arm around Diana. “And it’s not like Connor is alone. He has his friend Ryan with him, and they’ve seem to become really close over the past few weeks.”
“Close enough that they’re already dating,” Diana added. She let out a soft sigh before saying “I can’t believe how much Connor has opened up since we moved here. The entire town seems like it’s had such a positive impact on him. I mean, when we moved in and found out that this town was filled with Weres and one of us had to become one, Connor jumped at the offer so he could make new friends and become closer to Tad.”
“And that’s not a bad thing,” Kent added. “He’s already gotten used to the new home and the new town. I think this move was really good for Connor, and if we give it a little time, I think we’ll find that it will be just as good for us.”
Diana nodded, resting her head on her husband’s shoulder as they sat on the couch together.
