Before Jacob can get in the pool and test his theory, he feels himself being lifted into the air.
“Hang on, buddy, you can’t just walk around in a swim diaper!” says the person holding Jacob aloft. Jacob cranes his neck to get a better look. It’s the young woman that was sitting at the front desk when he and Seth arrived.
“But-” Jacob starts. The woman props him on one hip.
“Little ones like you can run around in regular diapers, but if you want to be in the pool, you need a swimsuit and a swim diaper,” she says patiently. “We need that extra layer of protection for when you have an accident.” Jacob turns red, noting that she didn’t say “if” he had an accident, but “when” he had an accident.
“But that doesn’t really matter anyways,” she continues. “We can’t have toddlers running around unsupervised. Come on, you’re coming up front with me.”
“But-” Jacob tries again. The woman pokes his nose playfully.
“No need to be scared. I’ll make an announcement and your mommy or daddy will come fetch you.” Jacob attempts to squirm free, but the woman holds him tightly as they walk to the front desk. She sits behind the desk, Jacob on her lap, and announces over the intercom that a toddler boy was found unsupervised.
“Now, what should I do with you until your mommy or daddy comes?” she muses, looking him over. Her gaze slides over to look at a box labeled "Lost and Found". Jacob gulps nervously as he realizes there are a lot of clothes in there that would fit him right now.
