With the changes completely imputed into the Chronivac, Jeff sat back as the changes commenced. Of course, there were a lot of settings. Some of the settings were complicated....and Jeff had not clicked the little plus symbol next to the Awareness setting to see more detail. As he selected the run button, he could hear the computer's fan whir up, indicating it was working on something.
He looked out the window, spotting his next door neighbor, a thirty-two year old woman named Lilly Perkins. Lilly was twice Jeff's age and had, on many occasions been the subject of his fantasies...not that he thought she noticed. Lilly was taking her German Shepherd, Sandy for a walk, as she did every day. Sandy stopped right before the house, on a patch of grass outside her gate, a goofy grin on her face, thinking only of what she was going to do in that moment.
Lilly enjoyed the quiet time. Her boss was giving a hard time at work, wanting her to put in extra hours on a project. A nice walk with Sandy helped her clear her head.
Suddenly, there was what sounded to Lilly like a wave of static. She felt a bit disoriented, and suddenly she could feel the grass beneath her feet....looking down, she noticed she was barefoot. "Where did my shoes go?" After a few moments, she shook her head. "Oh, well," and resumed what she was doing.
Squatting on the grass, she felt a sudden warm feeling and a pleasant relief of discomfort. She hadn't had to pull down her clothes because suddenly, and inexplicably...they were suddenly gone. The static continued...she looked around for her missing clothes, not seeing them.
Meanwhile, Sandy was standing there, waiting for Lilly somewhat expectantly. She wished Lilly would get a move on...instead of making her wait here. What was Lilly doing, just squatting there? She leaned back on her hind legs to try and get a better look.
