“No way!” At the sound of Seth’s voice, Jacob hurriedly lowers her dress. She looks up at her friend, standing over her, bursting with glee. “Man, Jacob, I didn’t expect you to get this messed up!” Jacob crosses her arms.
“What do?” she snaps. Seth grins.
“It’s just a prank, no need to get your diaper in a twist,” he says cheerfully. Jacob kicks his shin with one sandal-clad foot. “Ow! Okay, fine.” Seth picks Jacob up and brings her over to the chairs by the front entrance, far from anyone who might overhear their conversation. He sets her down before sitting as well.
“What do?” Jacob demands.
“I got a prank spell online. It changes you depending upon what you wear and how the item fits you. I wasn’t expecting it to work at all, let alone this well, so I didn’t recognize you when you got turned into a toddler at first. By the time I realized it was you and went back, you were gone. I’m glad that I managed to track you down, though. This is hilarious! You got turned into a two-year-old girl!”
“Shut up,” Jacob mutters. Seth takes out his phone and takes a picture of her.
“You’re so cute when you pout,” Seth coos. Jacob glares at him. “Okay, okay, fine. I’ll get out the reversal instructions.” Seth scrolls through his phone for a few moments while Jacob continues to sulk. “Uh oh.”
“What?”
“The spell is a two-time transformation. You use the first transformation to become something else, and the second to return to normal. But you didn’t do that. You used the second transformation to be even more different than before.” Jacob’s jaw drops. “Don’t worry! We’ll- we’ll figure this out! I’ll call customer support.”
As Seth talks to customer support, Jacob gets progressively antsier. By the time he’s off the phone, she’s practically vibrating from her nerves.
“Okay. Here’s the situation,” Seth says. “They’re whipping up a reversal for you, but it’ll take at least three to five business days.”
“It Friday!” Jacob squeaks in distress. She’s going to be stuck like this for almost a full week, and that’s only if it takes the earlier three days, which it probably won’t. Seth nods solemnly.
“They made some temporary arrangements that should take effect in about ten minutes. It’s to make things easier on you, but also punish me for using their spell as a prank.”
“What temp’ry ‘range?” Jacob asks.
“Until you’ve used the reversal, you’re my little sister. Specifically, my little sister that my parents insist I take care of all the time.” Seth grimaces. “I’m going to be changing all of your diapers, bro.” Jacob isn’t looking forward to having a diaper change, but she is slightly pleased that Seth will have to do the changing. If she’s going to poop and pee herself because of Seth, he should be the one to clean up the mess.
“What do during school?” Jacob asks.
“Well, you know how there’s a daycare near the high school?” Jacob nods. “You’ll be going there. I’m going to drop you off in the mornings and pick you up right after school ends. All my after-school activities are basically cancelled.” Jacob grins.
“You my nanny,” she teases. Seth sighs.
“I guess I am. For at least three to five business days.” Abruptly, Seth and Jacob both shiver. “That must be the temporary changes,” Seth says. He looks at his new little sister. “Yep. You look a lot like me now, Jacklyn.” Jacklyn frowns.
“My name not Jacklyn,” she argues. “It-” Her eyes widen. She knows what her real name is, Jacob, but it feels weird to use it for herself, and she can’t say it.
“That’s part of the changes. You’re going to be Jacklyn until you use the reversal.” Seth sighs. “You’re basically the boss of me until you’re back to Jacob, so, what do you want to do, little sis?”
