Alec awoke to find that she was no longer tied up and she turned over to see Vivian making some food by the campfire. As Alec rubbed her eyes with her pawed hands she became immediately aware that she was still in the body of the nekomata. She glanced around looking for her unconscious body but couldn’t find it anywhere.
“Vivian?” She queried.
“Yes... Alec?” Vivian said as she stopped for a moment putting things down. “Okay I’m glad you are awake that answers one question.” She had a nervous look on her face as she bit her lower lip.
“What do you mean where is my body?” Alec asked. Looking past Vivian and seeing would looked like a body under a blanket. “Is that it?” She said pointing one claw at it?
“Yes, but there is something you need to be aware of first.” Her expression looked more concerned. “Your body is... well you see... it’s dead.” She finally managed to report the news to Alec, her eyes immediately growing wide in response. She quickly got up and bound over on all fours to her body and pulled off the blanket but was immediately confused.
“Vivian this isn’t my body. It looks nothing like me.” Alec looked down and the scrawny white kid on the ground. She throughly scanned over the body and compared it’s features against what she knew her physical description to be. All the details seemed to match but she just didn’t recognize him as her. She picked up the guild card from the pile of possessions next to it. Upon picking up the card she felt a sharp stab as it took a drop of blood similar to when she had first received it. “What the hell?” The card now read ‘updating’. After several moments the information on that card updated, she reviewed the card shocked at what she was reading.

“Vi....Vivian. My guild card lists my race as a Nekomata now. “ Alec said her feline voice losing the previously sultry tones as they were replaced with fear and confusion. She began to shake and then started crying, not entirely sure why but suddenly overwhelmed by the situation. Vivian came in and cradled her stroking her head waiting for her to calm down.
“It may not make you feel better but at least we found more out about your skill.” She began after Alec stopped crying as loudly. “For example...either after you sleep or are in the body for a prolonged period of time it becomes your default body.” She shivered slightly. “Im glad you didn’t find that out with me.” She shook her head shaking the thought off.
“Sure I’m alive but Im a monster now.” Alec sniffled finally mostly calm but still a little out of sorts.
“Nekomata are monsterous humanoids.” She corrected. “Although most nekomata are considered feral, there have been several cases were a Nekomata was raised with humans from a young age. To top it off you have a guild card, there shouldn’t be any problems... I think.” The certainty in her tone seemed to waver near the end but it was enough to finish calming Alec down. Who was now purring as Vivian continued to scratch her head. “Hey I noticed you have some skills now how about we try then out and then head off to fight the witch, like I said we are running short on time.”
Alec nodded, and got up out of Vivians embrace and absentmindedly did some feline stretches. Vivian was stifling a chuckle, she wouldn’t tell her now but she preferred Alec like this. She was smaller cuter and the feline behavior that seemed to be a result of her now default form made her even more adorable. After Alec finished stretching she approached a tree and slowly raked one of her claws against it clearly she was amused because she continued to do so repeatedly until Vivian cleared her throat.
“Err sorry, it’s just amazing how sharp they are...” Alec said sheepishly. “I suppose we should try reaving claws first.” Not quite sure where to start she just stared at one of her pawed hands.
“Try swiping your han..er...paw at a tree and chanting the skill in your head.” Vivian offered attempting to help. Alec took the proffered advice and let out a surprised yowl jumping nearly 10ft back when the tree started collapsing towards her. The tree had been mangled like 3 invisible blades had cut it nearly complete through. After utilizing that first skill Alec felt a little woozy, and stumbled to the side.
“Careful!” Vivian stepped forward and helped support her. “I think thats like the Nekomata trump card so it probably uses a lot of energy.” She helped Alec to a sitting position by the fire. “It seems like you should be able to use these skill easily, lets eat and then get going you can learn the rest along the way.” She handed Alec some of the food she prepared and sat down eating her own.
“Vivian, what should we do about my corpse.” After a few moments of silence eating Alec had finally decided to ask about one of his major concerns.
“I think we should carry it along it will give credence to out story if they see your original body totally undamaged but dead.” Alex nodded in response, it made sense not much else they could do.
“Hey wait I’m totally naked.” Alec said suddenly trying to cover himself up. Vivian started choking as she was laughing at her sudden epiphany.
“You realize that now?!” She laughed a bit more. “When we get back we will find you some clothes that fit all of this.” She gesture her hand vaguely, as she referred to his attractive feminine feline form.
The two finished eating and packed up setting off to face the witch.
