Stealing another glance at Sue, Terry attempted to pick up the dice with a wing. All he managed to do was push them along the floor. From behind the wing, Sue's hand appeared and grabbed the dice.
Pulling his wing back, Terry could now see Sue staring at him. "I said I'd help move your piece when you were blind. See? I remember something." Terry laid out his wing horizontally, allowing Sue to place the dice on them. Then Terry dumped them back onto the floor.
They came up 6 and 2. Sue moved Terry's piece to the space where Tom had picked up his key. Now that it was gone, the space had mysteriously turned to a random color. This one was green.
"Green spaces are interesting," Terry explained. "They provide a sort of testing ground for transformations."
As he spoke, the room disappeared around them. The ceiling gave way to an endless blue sky, and the ground turned to grass and rock. Nearby, a mammoth cave stood before them. The interior was pitch black, and scattered rust-colored stalactites make it look like a gaping mouth, ready to devour anything that entered.
"I guess I have to go in," Terry mused.
"In there?" Tom said. "That looks way to dangerous. You'll be practically blind again."
"I still have my bat-sonar," Terry assured. "Besides, if the game wanted to kill us, I don't think any of us would still be here."
"We're all going to be stuck here if he doesn't go," Dave insisted. "So what are you waiting for?"
