Annette knocked four times before trying the doorknob and was surprised to find it unlocked.
"Jamie! Ya there!"
No response. Perhaps she ran to 7/11 to get some soda? Letting herself in, Annette flipped the lights on and was left dumbstruck at what she saw.
"The heck?"
Not only was the place all set up but the decor and furnishing? This was certainly NOT the stuff Jamie had at her old place. Heck, it didn't suit her at all! Well, maybe the TV but mahogany tables, artsy paintings, and fancy vases just weren't Jamie! And that chandelier? Her friend was all about practicality and that thing took up too much space and was probably a killer on electricity. The hell was she looking at?
Did she by chance enter the wrong apartment?
Checking her phone she looked up the apartment number and compared it to the one outside. 414. She was in the right apartment alright but it felt so off!
Tossing Jamie a text, Annette took the opportunity to look around a bit. Perhaps Jamie got a credit card and went on a charging spree? Or maybe an aunt died and left her an inheritance? At this point anything was possible but despite how pretentious she found the new decor, she couldn't deny the place looked great! It was only after Annette saw the photos on the desk did her mind start to ease up. Two team photos (Soccer and Track), a graduation photo, and one with Jamie at a restaurant with her ex Simon. Annette found the last one odd because she recalled they had a rather nasty break up. Maybe they reconciled?
Wandering into the bedroom, Annette was met with the same fancy pants furniture style she saw prior though she spotted some familiar pieces such as Jamie's posters, her medals, and a number of family pictures. That mirror though?
That was new. Odder still was that its old-timey aesthetic clashed with everything else. Never one to shy away from a mirror, Annette went over to make a quick hair adjustment.
A bloodcurdling scream would follow shortly after.
Falling to the floor, Annette's surroundings instantly changed. The furniture was the same but now there were goofy posters, books, action figures, and awards in the room. It was then this bespectacled geek in a letterman jacket suddenly burst out the closet.
"WHAT'TH WRONG!"
Annette found herself screaming again.
