"I just wish we had enough money to afford insurance and gas and stuff for them," concluded Jennifer.
Kevin said, "It's okay. We'll figure something out. We can probably sell --"
"Look at the house!" Emma squealed.
What they saw was a third story somehow growing upward from the existing second story. And then it started growing outward to the left and right, the next door neighbors' houses just disappearing into thin air to make room. A columned front porch appeared along with trees and shrubbery that appeared professionally tended to. The driveway itself now curved in front of the house and had turned from concrete to cobblestone.
"Cool!" exclaimed Annabelle, although she wasn't looking at the house, she was looking at the diamond bracelet that now sparkled on her wrist. Emma and Jennifer had similarly become bejeweled.
"Hang on," muttered Kevin. He pulled his wallet out of his back pocket, opened it, and pulled out a thick stack of $100 bills. Jennifer's eyes widened, but Kevin pointed out, "This could ruin the economy."
"Aw, Daddy, you worry too much," Annabelle chastened.
Kevin took a deep breath. All he could do was gesture toward the front door of what was now a mansion. "After you, girls," he said.
