Jacob quickly gets bored. He gets to his feet unsteadily, gripping the mesh of the playpen for support.
“Out,” he commands. The daycare worker doesn’t even look over. “Want out.”
“Sorry, Jakey, but you’re a bit of a mystery, so you have to stay in the playpen until we figure out who you really are.”
“But-” Jacob starts. The daycare worker sighs and pops a pacifier into Jacob’s mouth. Jacob suckles on the pacifier instinctively. He sits down, grimacing at the cushion provided by his diaper. There are a few toys in the playpen, which Jacob picks up and tries to play with. But once again, he gets bored fast. None of the items are stimulating enough to keep a teenager turned toddler happy. Jacob removes his pacifier.
“Out!” he says again. The daycare worker looks at him with a long-suffering expression.
“I told you, Jakey, no, you’re not allowed out yet.”
