“…go get groceries.” Tina redresses Leah and buckles her back into the stroller.
“Can’t you get the groceries here?”
“Sorry, sweetie. It’s too expensive to get groceries here.” Tina smiles down at Leah. “If you behave and don’t pout the whole time, I’ll get you something special, though.” Leah’s stuck dressed like a baby. She might as well get something out of it.
“All right.”
“Great!” Tina pushes the stroller out of the bathroom and up to check out. Thankfully, the cashier doesn’t even glance at Leah in the stroller. They then head to the car. “You look like a baby right now, honey, so you’ll have to be in the car seat. If someone sees me driving a car where a baby isn’t in a car seat, I’ll get in serious trouble. I might even lose my job.”
“Fine,” Leah sighs. Tina buckles her into the car seat. The car seat is actually a lot more comfortable than Leah expected. She might even prefer it over not riding in a car seat. Though she won’t tell Tina that.
They arrive at the grocery store. Tina grabs a cart from the cart corral and brings it over to the car.
“In you go,” she chirps cheerfully, placing Leah in the seat of the cart that mothers put their young children in. Leah blushes. “No one’s going to think this is weird,” Tina says, trying her best to be comforting. She pushes the cart into the store. “To a stranger, you’re just a baby girl sitting where baby girls are supposed to sit.”
Grocery shopping feels like it takes forever, particularly because Tina lets Leah pick out her treat at the beginning. It takes so long that Leah feels her bowels rumbling once again. Her bladder is begging for release, too. Leah squirms in her seat. She needs to convince Tina to take her to the bathroom, or she’ll have yet another accident.
