“Oh, no!” Tina gasps. Leah takes the pacifier out of her mouth.
“What?”
“I forgot to get applesauce!” Tina unbuckles Leah from the stroller and places her on the floor. “Run and get it for me, will you?”
“What brand?”
“The generic store brand is fine. Thanks!” Glad to have been removed from the stroller, Leah hurries away from the checkout, towards the appropriate aisle. She had been put in the stroller soon after being put into a diaper, so she didn’t spend much time walking while diapered. She quickly comes to the conclusion that age isn’t the only reason diapered children struggle to be coordinated.
The diaper Tina put on Leah last was designed for babies, and as such, very thick. So thick that Leah’s legs are pushed apart, forcing her to toddle. She hurries as best she can with this impediment and tries to ignore the fact that she’s grabbing applesauce while wearing only a diaper and a shirt.
She arrives at the aisle and grabs the applesauce, then sets off for the checkout, glad to have one part of this shopping misadventure go smoothly.
