Only reluctantly do you two part from your kiss, a line of drool connecting your lips being slowly dragged apart.
“You still didn't answer my last question,” Sara says. “Can I become a hero, too?”
“There's only one way to find out.” You move to your PC and try to turn it on, hoping the program didn't mess with it when it just shut down your computer. Thankfully the normal startup screen appears and you let out a sigh of relief. Looks like you won't have to buy a new one. Will it always just shut off when the game transforms someone?
While you wait for the bootup to finish, you decide to quickly (heh) check on something that has been nagging you in the back of your mind. You spot your wallet and take out your ID card. It reads “Alley Axel”, your new secret identity, and the other information is also matching with what you entered into the game. (You are aware the name is corny, but that's the point of secret identities.) So why is Sara still remembering your original name?
You click on the BHO-icon and the already familiar game start screen comes up.
“Is it ready now? Is that how I can get super powers?” your girlfriend asks over your shoulder.
“Yes, this game is what turned me into this,” you confirm. “But first I want to check up on something.”
Thankfully the game includes a digital manual. Your eyes fly over most points (already more attention than they got the first time) until they stop on the section you were looking for. You unconsciously read out loud, “Other people's memories and, if necessary, reality will be adjusted to fit your entered information. Any person present during the transformation will be exempt from any of those changes.”
You turn to Sara. “How long have you been watching me?”
She taps her finger at her lips as she thinks. “Hmm… about since you took off your clothes. I didn't want to disturb whatever you were doing, so I watched you through the door gap.”
So that explains why Sara still knows the old you. Well, it can't be changed and it already came with some perks.
You open the Character Creation screen. You take a moment to look at the avatar you have transformed into. Unsure what will happen if you edit it, you instead click on the “Add New” option. After giving Sara a short explanation on how everything works, you offer her your seat. You wait for her to start, but nothing happens. “Is something up?”
“Can you maybe leave, while I do this? I want it to be a surprise. I’ll tell you once I’m ready for the transformation.”
Seeing no reason to disagree, you leave the room and decide to try out your super power a bit more by casually strolling through your neighborhood at supersonic speed. You were grateful for the hidden pockets in your bodysuit, when your girlfriend sends a message to your phone that she's ready. In a second you're back in your room and see Sara, already bare naked, ready to start. She presses enter. You're about to find out what she will become.
